Russell reveals that since we first met 10 years ago, out of all of my principles that he has used - and incorporated into ClickFunnels - the one that still impacts him the most is what I refer to as the hero’s Inner Journey.
This isn’t really that surprising.
My approach to the Inner Journey was the main reason Will Smith first asked me to consult on the screenplay for I AM LEGEND, and eventually put me on retainer.
And more than anything else I teach or employ in my coaching, the Inner Journey has consistently been what draws audiences, readers and clients to my work.
Plus it’s often the element that leads to their greatest storytelling success.
Seeing Russell’s testimonial made me realize it was time to do a deeper dive into the components of the Inner Journey, and reveal how they can elevate your own storytelling success in business, film or fiction.
So for the next six installments, I’ll be coming to your inbox to reveal how the Inner Journey will improve the stories you tell.
And more importantly, how it can transform your own life….
We’re going to start with this core principle:
The Inner Journey is all about desire, fear and courage.
This simply means that for most make-believe or real life characters, the biggest obstacle standing in the way of success and fulfillment is fear.
And your most emotionally powerful stories will reveal how your hero’s ability to overcome those fears will ultimately lead to their greatest transformation.
This is why, when you work with me as a client, one of the most important questions you’ll hear me ask about your story is, “What terrifies your hero?”
This will lead us to the discovery of your hero’s Inner Journey.
And, as you will discover with the articles that follow, if you’re willing to ask that same question about your own dreams and fears, the answers will empower you to become the hero of your own life.
I think you’ll enjoy this new journey we’re taking, starting with my next installment: The Inner Journey #2: What Does My Hero REALLY want?
